About 40% of all domestic water consumed is used to flush toilets! Apartment Energy Consultants can help you save all this lost money!
Showers are obviously the other big source of water usage. Most people in the United States do not take cold showers, and showers normally last from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. Shower usage has three related utilities (water, sewage and heated water), but the greatest expense associated with showers is heated water expense. The energy source in the US is normally natural gas or electricity.
According to Sempra Energy utility, the gas company for most of Southern California, "Take shorter showers - they can account for over 50% of your hot water usage".
The goal is to install showerheads that exert a far lower flow of water than the common energy efficient use of 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm).

Grey Water Systems
We can provide you with a grey water system that stores used sink water in a 5.5 gallon reservoir under the sinks cabinet, though the reservoir need not be hidden. Once the toilet is flushed the stored water runs through a filtering system recognizing the toilet needs to be refilled. This grey water is then pumped from the reservoir to the flush tank. This reduces clean water waste needed to flush toilets. Annual water savings will be +/-5,000 gallons per toilet.
